April Jones
Hi! My name is April Jones. This is my fifteenth year working in the Habersham County School System. I have experience with Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communications, my Master of Arts in Teaching, and my Education Specialist from Piedmont College/University. I have Early Childhood as well as English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) certification. I spent ten years in Second Grade at Clarkesville Elementary School and this is my fourth year in Fifth Grade! This is a great school and I love being a part of it!
I am a life-long resident of Habersham County. Currently, I live in Mount Airy with my husband and our children.
The main thing you need to know about me is that I have high expectations for my students, parents/guardians, and myself. These high expectations are for both learning and behavior. I believe that we all need to respect each other and be responsible in our respective roles. I will always put forth my best effort, never the bare minimum, and I expect the same from my students. I believe that if we all give our best, and work together, that this year will be a GREAT year!
I love what I do and I truly care for your children. It is a joy to teach them! I found the following quote and it is an excellent representation of how I feel about my students:
“ I call my students ‘my kids’ because in our year together they aren’t just kids on my class list, they become a part of my heart.”
