I come from a family of educators. My dad was an elementary school principal. I can remember riding the bus every afternoon to his school until I entered the third grade; that was a thrill because I got to explore his school on my own. It was during one of these explorations that I had my first encounter with a child with special needs. I was standing in the hallway observing the “big” kids as they made a mad dash for their buses. I heard a deep voice behind me say, “Ain’t she cute!” Before I could react, I was suddenly kissed on the cheek by this boy with rather odd-looking facial features. That night when I lay down to sleep, I kept visualizing the way the boy looked. I knew he didn’t look like my friends or me; I wanted to know why. And thus began my interest in special education.
I have worked with both typically and atypically developing children. My utter passion is preschool special education! I absolutely adore my young friends! My credentials are as follows:
