I come from a family of educators. My dad was an elementary school principal.  I can remember riding the bus every afternoon to his school until I entered the third grade; that was a thrill because I got to explore his school on my own.  It was during one of these explorations that I had my first encounter with a child with special needs.  I was standing in the hallway observing the “big” kids as they made a mad dash for their buses.  I heard a deep voice behind me say, “Ain’t she cute!”  Before I could react, I was suddenly kissed on the cheek by this boy with rather odd-looking facial features.  That night when I lay down to sleep, I kept visualizing the way the boy looked.  I knew he didn’t look like my friends or me; I wanted to know why.  And thus began my interest in special education.

I have worked with both typically and atypically developing children.  My utter passion is preschool special education!  I absolutely adore my young friends!  My credentials are as follows:

Ed.D. Liberty University -      Educational Leadership: Teaching and Learning

Ed.S. Brenau University -       Early Childhood Education

M.S.  Radford University –    Early Childhood Special Education with emphasis in

                                                Intellectual Disability; additional endorsement in

                                                Preschool Special Education

B.S. Radford University -      Early Childhood Education NK-4

Outside of serving in PREP, I'm an adjunct faculty member at Grand Canyon University; I teach several online classes in their education program.  I also have two very spoiled Shih-Poo pups (Flopsey and Mopsey) who keep things interesting.
